The UVA men’s basketball team had a remarkable run this season that had them crowned the ACC regular season conference champions and finishing with only 4 losses this season. Unfortunately their latest loss has cost them a spot in the Sweet Sixteen as they were defeated by the the Michigan State Spartans over the weekend with a 54-60 box score.
“I felt like I wanted it more than a few other guys” said UVA Forward Darion Atkins after the loss. This is quite uncharacteristic of a team that has been known all season as a “grind it out” team that played fundamental on both ends, utilized the full shot clock and handed many teams season low games in team scoring, this may have just been a bad day for the Cavaliers.
We’re confident that the UVA Cavaliers will return next year as they still have a young team that will be highly competitive in the division and will continue to be a thorn in the side of the opponents.
